Post Graduate Training/Experience:
Sherif is an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist who is currently working as a senior Consultant at Christchurch Women’s Hospital. He is also a senior lecturer at the University of Otago.
Sherif completed his post-graduate training and his medical research work in the UK. He acquired invaluable experience in various aspects in Obstetrics and Gynaecology setting. Sherif earned reputation for strong sense of integrity, performance excellence, and commitment to patient care.
Sherif is a fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and the UK Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Sherif has received a high level of training in general gynaecology with advanced Laparoscopic / Hysteroscopic surgical skills in highly recognised training units in the UK and Europe. This was consolidated by obtaining a Diploma in Gynaecological operative endoscopic surgery, France and Master degree in infertility and reproductive medicine, UK, in addition to being a Fellow of International College of Surgeons.
Sherif is endoscopic (key-hole) lead surgeon at Christchurch Women’s Hospital for various types of gynaecological problems. His principal clinical interests are dealing with pelvic pain, advanced endometriosis, menstrual problems, infertility and fibroid uterus areas in which he has completed his research work with published scientific papers. Many of his papers have been presented at national and international conferences. In addition to his training in gynaecological ultrasound scan, Sherif is keenly interested in medical education.

Sherif extensively trained in infertility related reconstructive surgeries especially tubal diseases. Also, Sherif demonstrated expertise in operative hysteroscopic surgeries, restoring scarred uterine cavity, removal of uterine polyps or fibroids and dealing with post-menopausal bleeding as well asundertaking endometrial ablation for women who suffer heavy periods with excellent results. Sherif undertook one of the largest research project in endometrial ablation of over 1000 women in UK.
